The power of IDMS and SIDMS

Isotopically spiked collection tubes allow us to track species transformation or degradation occurring prior to analysis.

Isotopically spiked collection tubes allow us to track species transformation or degradation occurring prior to analysis.

Our D-IDMS and D-SIDMS technology gives us two powerful advantages in measuring biomarkers. First, our quantification method is definitive rather than relative. By measuring our samples against stable isotopes instead of a calibration curve, our results have higher precision and lower detection limits than any other mass spectrometry method in existence.

Second, by isotopically spiking samples at the time of sample collection, we track any transformations or degradations of the analyte between collection and analysis. We precisely calculate the amount of particular molecular species at the moment the sample was collected. Any chemical changes that occur from transportation, sample preparation, and/or shipment are measured and accounted for.

D-IDMS and D-SIDMS are especially powerful for measuring biomarkers with:

  • Trace concentrations (ppb or ppt)
  • Rapid degradation after collection
  • Different species (active, inactive, oxidized, etc.)
  • Need for accurate quantification
